Menton’s beautiful Nashville branding session was so much fun! This beautiful lady works at the School For Science And Math at Vanderbilt University, is a fantastic mom, and runs a super successful watercolor business. Menton shared with me that she started watercolor painting while she was pregnant with her firstborn, her daughter, and it brought her love of art back into their lives. As you can see, it’s clearly a family affair! Now, after a few years, her watercolor work is her side business. Menton owns and operates Hum Designs Paper Shop. And her work is just incredible!!! I loved being able to photograph her at work – and some detailed shots of her completed art. Simply incredible.
Since her business has been so successful, she decided it was the perfect time to invest in some branding portraits to photograph what she does. That’s where I came in! In December, we got together at her home to photograph her session. We started off with her family and some portraits of them together. Then, we moved on to her artwork. She and her daughter showed me what they do to gather before Menton got into her zone. It was important to us to make sure we captured her working, but also with her finished pieces.
You might notice that one of the finished pieces is of a hummingbird. Menton was very close with her grandfather, and he absolutely loved hummingbirds. Shortly after he died, there was a HUGE hummingbird migration where he was (does anyone else get chills with that story?!) and so she decided to name her business Hum Designs Paper Shop as a nod to him. I love that we were able to document that special piece of her story!!
Enjoy a peek into this super fun and unique Nashville branding session for a watercolor artist. I loved every moment of working with Menton and her family – and I hope you enjoy her portraits, too!
If you loved Menton’s branding photos and own your own business too, I’d love to work on your branding photography!
