Secrets To Having A Successful Family Photo Session (Tip #4): By Dolly DeLong Photography

Nashville family photographer, Dolly DeLong photography LLC, shares her best tips and secrets on how to joyfully work with children for family photography sessions (read below for tip #4)

Tip #4 is pretty short and sweet, but it’s to the point and has been an incredible tip in preventing some meltdowns for photo sessions. Also, side note, today is Harry Potter’s 39th Birthday today! If you are an avid Potter fan like me, I hope you can either watch an HP movie today with your kids OR go drink some butterbeer! Either way, celebrate!

Tip #4 Pack a favorite toy or item that your child loves

Bring a favorite toy or item to your session to help spark some sort of joy to your children. It may just help motivate them to smile for the camera. A toy can also be used in specific shots. Many parents want to capture milestone moments of their child playing with a cherished toy that is special to them at age 3, 7, or even 10. A favorite toy can also make a young one feel “safe” or “at ease” because of familiarity.
