Winter Newborn Session For Baby Girl in Nashville

Family

Wren’s Mint, Gray and White Nursery and Newborn Photography Session in Nashville

The Thomas family welcomed baby Wren, and I am so excited to get to share some of my favorite images from their newborn and family photography session in Nashville! Also, if you are planning your daughter’s future nursery decor and need some inspiration, check out how the Thomas family incorporated some gorgeous tones of mint green, gray, and white to create a gorgeous little nursery for their baby girl!

I have known Lauren before she was married to Brodrick because we both used to work in higher education together (for different colleges), but we would always travel the same circuit at various college fairs. She and I became buddies during travel season, and I always made sure to chat with her because she made me laugh so much and helped me make some decisions about wedding dress accessories when I was engaged to my husband (Ty)! *On a side note: yes, I worked in higher education for 7 years when I was building up my photography business…so you all, don’t ever give up on your dreams of going full-time, it takes time, but it is worth it*

ANYWAY, I was so excited when she reached out to me to do her maternity announcement photos for one of my sunflower mini session dates last fall, and now I get to share some of my favorite photos from her newborn and family session welcoming baby Wren! I loved the way she decorated Wren’s nursery (Do you see the nod towards Auburn in the photos? Wren’s dad is a big fan! Also, I loved how Lauren incorporated some hints of mint green, gray, and white throughout the room. It added a darling, feminine touch for Wren.)

Also, when I photographed this session, it was an incredibly rainy and cloudy day, which made everything extremely dark and left little natural light to work with. In many situations, some photographers would freak out about this, but not me! I am so grateful for the experts at Paul C. Buff who have helped me become more confident with off-camera flash because I am no longer scared of walking into darker rooms (aka no natural light) and I can still create timeless, radiant, and gorgeous images for my clients! (I am a firm believer in continued education as a photographer, so I am always trying to learn so that I can best serve all of my families with consistent images, no matter what the weather!) I set up my Paul C. Buff Light by bringing it in the room with me and I pointed the light at the wall opposite of where I was shooting so when the light hit the wall, it bounced off and diffused naturally around the room to create a more naturally lit room (versus me pointed the flash directly at the family and washing them out in light).
