One of the most common questions I get when planning family portrait sessions is where our portraits should be. Honestly, the best locations are the ones most meaningful to you and your family… but I always have a list of some of my favorite spots in Nashville for portraits. From fun neighborhoods to college campuses or beautiful gardens, there’s something for everyone! Here are a few of my favorite Nashville locations for family portraits!
For a classic, elegant option, consider Sevier Park or local college campuses such as Belmont University, Lipscomb University, and Vanderbilt University. With gorgeous architecture to explore and bring some texture to your portraits, you’ll love these spots in Nashville. You could also consider The Graduate Hotel and The Nashville Pinky AirBnB for somewhere different, too! East Nashville is one of my favorite spots for family photos because it offers so many unique locations. If you’re looking for somewhere to elevate your family portraits while still feeling like Nashville, I have three great options. The first is the War Memorial. I also love Ravenswood Mansion and Cheekwood Estate. All three give you SUCH classic vibes.
Looking for some pops of bright and bold colors for your family photos? Consider Downtown Nashville, or even the suburbs of Nashville such as the murals and 12th South. They’re so much fun and a great way to infuse some extra color into your photos. I also love the East Nashville Greenhouse. Between the green plants and bright décor, it’s perfect for a bright but relaxed vibe for your portraits.
If your family loves time in the outdoors, you might want to consider a more rural look. Some of my favorite farms around Nashville are great for active families. I love visiting Harlinsdale Farm, Country Cove Christmas Farm, and Ellington Ag Center. These locations will provide us with stunning views at golden hour – and are always fun to let kids run around during our session. We can also check out Arrington Vineyards for another rural option, too!
When it comes time to choose your Nashville family portrait location, consider what makes your family unique. Ask yourself what you enjoy doing together and how you spend your time. This will definitely help you narrow down the location options available! If you don’t see something on this list that makes you excited, that’s okay! I always love exploring new options that are meaningful to you and your family!
