Building A Breakthrough Brand with Elizabeth McCravy

Building A Breakthrough Brand with Elizabeth McCravy | A Business Spotlight Series by Dolly DeLong Photography

For the entire month of May, I am excited to announce that I am going to be highlighting different small businesses that help make a positive impact on various companies and other small businesses throughout the United States and even throughout the world. Being a business owner myself, I want to take a moment to shine a light on other businesses because I am hoping that they will point my readers and viewers to valuable resources that could potentially help move the needle to bigger goals and dreams!

1. What is the official name of your business? And How long have you been in business?

Elizabeth McCravy is the official name, but I also say ‘Elizabeth McCravy Designs’ 🙂

I’ve been in business for 4 years!

2.  Who do you serve specifically?

I serve female entrepreneurs and small business owners who want to improve their online presence.

3. For your own business, what specific business tools do you enjoy using to help promote the growth of your business?

For me, Instagram, podcasting, and email marketing would be my top 3! I love using Instagram to share “behind the scenes” content and connect on a 1:1 level with my audience. Podcasting is probably my favorite tool. I create a new episode every week and share content to help with all aspects of an online business. Email marketing has also been a big growth tool for me. I don’t even send emails to my audience that frequently, but the funnels on the back end keep people educated on my offerings and tell them what they need to know to make a purchasing decision. And, of course, as a website designer, I think my website is one of the biggest growth tools (if not THE BIGGEST) because that’s where all of these other tools originate from!

4. Where is your business located?

I’m located in Nashville, Tennessee! I absolutely love living here, but I’ve had the joy of serving women all over the world in my business. Actually, in our recent website template launch, we sold templates to women in 9 different countries and over 23 states in the U.S.! Gotta love the power of the internet!

5.  What drives you to be the best in your industry or field?

There are so many things that drive me! On one hand, I love helping people grow successful businesses. It fuels me to see women using my website templates to launch their dreams without all the headaches that they’re used to! The feedback I get from customers and podcast listeners keep me going every day!

When I started my business, it felt like many of the business educators I was learning from were keeping their “success secrets” behind closed doors. I didn’t want to be like that. So, my podcast truly is an open book of what’s worked (and not worked) in building a multiple six-figure website design business.

I also feel like this is what God has called me to do in my life. I know my business will change over the course of my life, but I also know that this is where I’m meant to be. I love teaching others and I love strategic design. I really feel so blessed to be doing what I love in my business!

6. If you could give anyone a tangible tip that they could apply to their business TODAY what would it be?

It’s a challenge to pick just one! So, here are a few tangible tips!

Remember that people don’t buy products and services, they buy results. In your marketing, you should always be asking yourself, “What problem does this solve?”, “What result will a customer get from this?”, “What’s the transformation for them?”.

If you can answer those questions with clarity about your offer, you’ll have a much easier time marketing it. A great example of this is that no one really wants another online course. The act of “having a course” isn’t why people buy a course. People buy for the perceived RESULT they’ll get from the course. If there’s no clear benefit and result, they won’t want to buy it. So, know the transformation and result you’re offering!

As a website designer, I always encourage people to start their home page off with a “brand statement”. This is typically the first line of text on your homepage, besides your logo and menu. Your brand statement should tell who you serve, what you do, and why it’s unique. (Basically who, what, why of your business!) This can be a sentence or just a statement.

The goal is to get the attention of the right people (your ideal customer) and tell them that they’re in the right place. Without this statement, people land on your website with all kinds of questions, the biggest one being “Can this person help me solve my problem?”. You want to start answering that question before they even ask it.

If writing this statement sound intimidating, good news —  it’s a lot simpler than you’d think. I love taking people through an exercise of saying what they do in the “worst possible way”. This blog post will tell you how! It sounds crazy, but it will help you craft a brand statement that sounds like you and attracts the right people to your offer!

7. Where can people find you?
