Search Engine Optimization Tips from Digital Grace Design

Search Engine Optimization Tips with Digital Grace Design as featured by Nashville Branding Photographer Dolly DeLong Photography

Because of Digital Grace Design’s Search Engine Optimization Tips, I went from being on Google’s 7th page to the 1st page for my business. I had NO idea how the power of Search Engine Optimization could transform my business and so today I am excited to point other businesses to the incredible resources of Digital Grace Design! Read on!

For the entire month of May, I am excited to announce that I am going to be highlighting different small businesses that help make a positive impact on various companies and other small businesses throughout the United States and even throughout the world. Being a business owner myself, I want to take a moment to shine a light on other businesses because I am hoping that they will point my readers and viewers to valuable resources that could potentially help move the needle to bigger goals and dreams!

1. What is the official name of your business? And How long have you been in business?

Digital Grace Design was started in 2017

2.  Who do you serve specifically?

I serve creative entrepreneurs and small businesses, primarily in the wedding, photography, interior design, and wellness industries.

3. For your own business, what specific business tools do you enjoy using to help promote the growth of your business?

I love a good tool!  Here’s what I use and for what.

Dubsado – my CRM that manages scheduling, inquiries, contracts, proposals, onboarding questionnaires, etc

Tailwind – Pinterest management

Planoly – Instagram management

ClickUp – project management – I’m a checklist kind of girl, so I have my set project workflows in here so I can check them off over the course of the project, and then I manually write out to-do lists in a quasi-bullet journal sort of way

Flodesk – email marketing

StoryBrand – as a Certified Guide, I’m provided with tons of resources for business growth from StoryBrand that I use myself and to help guide clients through as well

Showit – websites, of course!  I literally could not do my job without Showit.  They’re truly the best, and I love them.

Adobe Illustrator/Photoshop – branding design and graphics

Podia – I run my Simple Showit SEO course through Podia

Interact – for fun embeddable website quizzes that can help you grow your email list

4. Where is your business located?

I’m located in NYC, specifically Harlem.  Though I serve all of my clients online – I’ve only ever met one client in person while we worked together, though I’ve met many after our projects have finished at conferences or while they were visiting NY.

5.  What drives you to be the best in your industry or field?

I’m so incredibly inspired by my clients and so grateful to them for entrusting their businesses and brands to me for a season while we collaborate.  I’ve always been a wee bit of an overachiever and a life-long learner, so I’m constantly striving to learn new things and improve my skills. I truly have the best clients ever, and I feel like I owe it to them to stay as polished as I can in order to serve them in the best way that I can.  Design skills, SEO, website strategy, copywriting, and more – I’m always game to grow my toolkit.

6. If you could give anyone tangible tips that they could apply to their business TODAY what would it be?

  • Always make sure your website clearly and concisely tells folks right off the bat what you do, who you serve, and if you’re location specific, where you’re located.  This not only tells folks that land on your website that they’re in the right place but also tells Google what you do so they can better bring you up in search results.
  • One of the fun things about website design is that you get to guide folks through your website by calling them to action and telling them where to go next.  Don’t let folks get to the bottom of your website pages without a next step. What’s the next logical step on their website journey that would get them one step closer to contacting you or buying your product?  For instance, at the bottom of your Home page, you’ll likely link to your Services page; or at the bottom of your Services page, you’ll likely want to link to your Contact page. Tell folks where you want them to go.
  • Even if you use a CRM contact form on your website, always list your email address somewhere too.  You want to make it as easy as possible for folks to reach you, and some folks prefer to email you directly or may have a question that doesn’t directly fit your contact form questions.  You can always add them to your CRM later if you need
  • Don’t forget about SEO.  This is one of my biggest pet peeves.  You can have the most beautiful website in the world, but if folks can’t find it, it won’t do you much good.
  • At a minimum, make sure to set page titles and descriptions for each page for search results, tag your text appropriately so Google understands the hierarchy of info on your page, add alt-text to your images, and use Google Analytics and Search Console so you can track how folks are using your site and for which search terms your site tends to come up for in search results.  You can use this insight to revise your website as you need
