Why You Should Ditch Linktree and Make Your Own Custom Links for Your Social Media 

Have you ever clicked on someone’s “link in bio” and seen a pretty menu of several different options to click through to? Linktree is one of the more popular free options for creating one of these customized IG bio links, but I’m not a fan. Instead of using this problematic service, I learned how to make my own custom page of links, and I’m sharing my process with you today!

Why not Linktree?

Here’s the thing, Linktree is incredibly unreliable. If you use the free version, there are only a few colors to choose from, so it’s not customized to your brand. When I tried to use the service, it was constantly breaking or crashing. Certain links would disappear without warning or wouldn’t link to the right place. It was a disaster! 

I don’t recommend using Linktree.

How do I get a custom link page then?

Benefits of a custom link page?

You probably have more than one place you’d like to direct your Instagram audience! Maybe you have a new service you’re promoting, a new blog post, and a lead magnet. Since you only get one link in your IG bio, creating a custom link page will let you advertise all of your offers from one link! 

A custom link page will let you optimize your Instagram traffic and let your content live longer than the feed.

With your own custom link page, you can:

-Use your own custom branding

-Use Google Analytics to accurately track clicks

-Boost your SEO

In Summary

A custom link page is incredibly helpful for maximizing your reach and helping your audience find the right resources. If you aren’t quite ready to use a custom link page, at the very least make sure your website is linked to your Instagram bio!

I am a firm believer that there should be a strategy for most facets of your business, and with creating an intentional LINK in Bio, you can determine the client’s journey (their workflow) with you by creating not only a visually appealing Link in Bio (your own version of Linktree) BUT you can also have more control over the SEO, and have more impressions on a landing page YOU own (which is great for Google analytics)!
